![]() Holy Hour for Life: Friday, January 22 at 7:00–8:00pm
Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish Prays for Life tomorrow, Friday, January 22, 2021. Please join us for Holy Hour for Life, Forgiveness and Healing in the Church this Friday, January 22 at 7:00—8:00pm as part of the Archdiocesan observance of the National Day of Prayer and Penance. This day marks the 48th anniversary of the heartbreaking decision by the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe vs. Wade case which legalized abortion on demand. With Deacon Joe and Monsignor Moran, we will pray together for respect for the dignity of human life, from conception to natural death; for those who have been wounded by abortion; for those facing death, and for increased holiness in the Church. The over 56 million babies have been aborted since the gut-wrenching Supreme Court decisions were made in 1973 (Roe vs. Wade and Doe v. Bolton). January 22 was established by the bishops of the United States as a particular day of prayer and penance, called the “Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children,” to solemnly mark the 1973 case which legalized infanticide. This day is nationally observed “as a particular day of prayer for the full restoration of the legal guarantee of the right to life and of penance for violations to the dignity of the human person committed through acts of abortion” (General Instruction of the Roman Missal, no. 373). Today, in the United States, a mother can legally take the life of her precious, unborn child, the one who is growing in her very own womb. Our culture reflects the magnitude of what Pope Francis means by a “throwaway culture.” Despite tragic decisions of the past, we must remember to have great trust in God’s providence. We are reminded time and again in Scripture to seek the Lord’s help. As people of faith, our prayers are heard. All are invited to join us, if you are able, as a sign of public witness in support of the Gospel of Life. The Holy Hour for Life, Forgiveness and Healing is organized by Boston Deacons for Life in collaboration with the Office of Diaconal Life and Ministry & the Pro Life Office of the Archdiocese of Boston. 2020/2021 Religious Education Classes: Updated January 21, 2021
