Religious Education
2020/2021 Religious Education Classes: Updated January 21, 2021
A large part of our Religious Education program is proper preparation for our students to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist, and Confirmation. We also nurture the graces received in these sacraments by continuing the children’s education in faith and deepening their relationship with Jesus Christ at every level. Given the demands of Covid-19 safety, this year our parish offers a choice of in-person classes or virtual classes. Our goal this school year has been to offer Religious Education classes on multiple learning platforms to accommodate families who may be unable to attend in-person classes. Register for classes by clicking here. Virtual/on-line classes are available for all grades (Grades 1 through 10). We are using the curriculum by Our Sunday Visitor's ‘Alive in Christ’ series. Families with students in more than one grade may choose to have each student do his or her own lesson (Individual Lessons by Grade); alternately, a family may choose to use a multi-grade lesson which will involve the whole family at the same time (Multi-Grade Family Lessons). Weekly lessons are completed at a time convenient to them—there is no pre-determined time/hour. ALL VIRTUAL CLASSES: Students enrolled in virtual classes should have two (2) books: 1- A Curriculum Book for the student, and 2- A Website User Guide Book (with accompanying website code) for the parents Website User Guide Books are required in order to begin virtual classes. Guide Books can be picked up at the Parish Center (80 Atlantic Ave.) between 9:00am and 12Noon, Sunday through Wednesday. Grade 9 only: Your Web User Guide Books are virtual. In-person classes are available for all grades (Grades 1 through 10). We have implemented several safety measures, based on guidelines from the Archdiocese of Boston and in accordance with the DESE, to ensure the safest possible learning environment for our students and teachers. These measures include: ✓ Reduced class sizes (up to 9 students per classroom) ✓ Touchless temperature checks at the door before each class ✓ Hand sanitizers in all classrooms ✓ Mandatory masks for all teachers and students ✓ Handouts, individual take-home books, and smart TV's for learning ✓ Extensive cleaning of classrooms, stairwells, hallways, and bathrooms after each class In-Person class schedule: Sunday: 10:00AM to 11:00AM (Grades 1 through 10) Monday: 3:00PM to 4:00PM (Grades 1 through 8) Tuesday: 3:00PM to 4:00PM (Grades 1 through 6) 6:00PM to 7:00PM (Grades 6 through 10) Wednesday: 3:00PM to 4:00PM (Grades 1 through 8) The fee for Religious Education classes is $100 per family, regardless of the number of children attending. Registration is required for all students including those attending Private School, Parochial School or Boarding School. For Private or Parochial School students, fees will be waived as long as they are receiving their Religious Education at the school. Boarding School Students must make arrangements with the Religious Education Office. Working together, we do our best to build a firm foundation in our Catholic faith. We sincerely appreciate your tremendous patience as we navigate this new learning environment. Religious Education can be reached at 781-631-8340 or by email at sosdremusic@verizon.net. |
